In addition to receiving four black traffic points, drivers who are distracted while operating a motor vehicle will be subject to a fine of Dh800, according to a statement released by the Abu Dhabi Police.

In addition, the authorities distributed a video clip showing an accident that took place as a direct result of a driver being distracted. The video captures the moment when two white sedans had a head-on collision while traveling in the rightmost lane of an Abu Dhabi road. The second white vehicle collides with the railing of the median and then spins out of control after the impact. The vehicle looks to have sustained significant damage, while the vehicle that was responsible for the initial collision is seen driving away into the distance.

Causes

According to the Abu Dhabi Police, a significant number of drivers are not paying attention to the road because they are using their mobile devices to perform tasks such as scrolling through applications and social media platforms, making phone calls, or taking pictures. These behaviors are exceedingly dangerous, and they put not only the life of the driver but also the lives of other people who use the road in significant danger.
