Career fair offers a number of jobs and training opportunities for graduates

Sources revealed that the Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi, is hosting a career fair with 60 participants, which in turn offers a number of job and training opportunities to sponsor graduates.

Statistics indicated that about 500 individuals, including graduates and students, participated in the exhibition, and they learned about jobs in various sectors that suit their specializations and requirements, and conducted some interviews for employment with a number of participating entities.

The sources revealed that Dr. Faisal Al-Ayyan, Director of the College Compound, inspected the exhibition activities and met with a number of representatives of the participating companies and business institutions, who in turn spoke about the nature of the job opportunities offered and their employment requirements, and followed up on a number of job interviews that were conducted with the students.

While Dr. Adel Al-Amiri, “Advisor to the Director of the Compound", pointed out the importance of the exhibition for colleges, as it is one of the tools that enhance the mission of achieving strategic goals, which in turn aims to create employment opportunities for students and graduates, especially in the private sector and within the vital sectors in the country.

Al-Amiri continued that the participation of about 60 employers reflects the partnership relations between colleges and work sectors, and the institutions’ keenness to attract college graduates because of their applied skills.

Al Ameri explained that the participating entities represent a number of important and vital sectors, including health, construction, energy, gas, oil, electricity, management consulting, and others. A number of entities also conducted direct interviews with students and graduates applying for jobs with them.

The sources added that the Higher Colleges of Technology have strategies aimed at supporting employment, including continuous review and development of programs in accordance with developments in jobs and skills, adding that the “vocational apprenticeship” program gives students practical training opportunities during their years of study, which supports their applied skills and enhances their experience in the labor market. In addition to the efforts of employment centers in colleges that work to develop students’ skills in job interviews, which supports their employment opportunities.

According to the opinion of experts, improving student skills is not optional, but a necessity imposed by changes and transformations. Developments mimic technology skills at times, and work methods at other times. The problem in the field lies in the failure of some schools to realize their responsibility towards training, qualifying and empowering their students in accordance with developments and changes.
