IndiGo, the Indian budget airline, has unveiled plans to expand its flight operations to the UAE, specifically targeting a new daily direct flight from Chandigarh, a city in northern India, to Abu Dhabi.
Scheduled to commence on May 15th, this new flight service aims to offer increased travel options, seamless connectivity, and improved accessibility for both businesspeople and travelers commuting between India and the UAE, as stated in a press release by IndiGo.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, highlighted the significance of this expansion, emphasizing that with this addition, IndiGo will operate a total of 63 weekly flights to Abu Dhabi from nine cities across India. This move is expected to facilitate not only travel but also trade and tourism, further enhancing the socio-cultural exchange between the two countries.
Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, holds a strong appeal for Indian tourists due to its renowned attractions, such as its picturesque islands, world-class theme parks, striking architecture, cultural landmarks, and beautiful coastlines. Iconic sites like the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Ferrari World, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Yas Island, Emirates Park Zoo, and Al Ain Palace Museum draw visitors from around the globe.
On the other hand, Chandigarh, serving as the capital of both Haryana and Punjab states in India, boasts distinctive features such as its architectural marvels, urban planning, and modern infrastructure. This city has established itself as a significant hub in northern India, attracting tourists and business travelers alike.
By introducing this new flight route, IndiGo aims to cater to the growing demand for travel between Chandigarh and Abu Dhabi, facilitating convenient and efficient air travel for passengers while contributing to the promotion of tourism and economic ties between India and the UAE.
