The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) announced that the United Arab Emirates has banned fishing for two different species for the month of April.
In accordance with the MoCCAE, which outlines the regulations that govern the fishing and commerce of specific species of fish during the time of their breeding season, the restriction will remain in effect until the year 2026.

For the time being, the United Arab Emirates has placed a temporary restriction on fishing certain species of fish.
Due to the fact that this month is the mating season for golden trevally (Gnathanodon speciosus) and painted sweetlips (Diagramma pictum), fishing for these species is prohibited beginning on April 1 and continuing until April 30.
The UAE temporarily bans the fishing of some types of fish.
According to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Environment (MoCCAE), the purpose is to control commercial fishing in order to ensure the sustainability of fish populations in UAE waterways and to increase the food security of the country.
Additionally, in order to accomplish this goal, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Endangered Safety Authority has initiated a two-day awareness campaign, which will begin on Monday, with the purpose of regulating the hunting and marketing of specific species of fish.
The campaign will encompass all fish markets in the Emirates and the fish stores within the complexes. In addition, it will target hotels, restaurants, and central kitchens in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, in addition to businesses that import and re-export fish products.
The ministerial decision that governed the fishing and commerce of Goldlined Sunbeam and King Soldier Bream has also been rendered invalid as a result of the new law, which has also brought about additional changes.
