Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently distributed over 600 pre-loaded Nol cards to disadvantaged families on Sheikh Zayed Humanitarian Day, which falls on the 19th day of Ramadan annually.
These Nol cards serve a dual purpose, facilitating not just public transportation but also essential purchases at designated retail establishments across the emirate. This initiative underscores RTA's commitment to community welfare, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
The distribution of 630 nol cards forms part of RTA's broader Ramadan program, which aims to uplift various segments of society, including RTA employees, individuals with disabilities, low-income families, drivers, and laborers. Through such initiatives, RTA endeavors to spread joy and happiness among these communities during this auspicious time.
In addition to the Nol card distribution, RTA has launched the 'Modes of Good' initiative, an extension of the annual 'Meals on Wheels' program. This initiative entails the provision of 8,000 Iftar meals to public bus drivers, delivery bike riders, truck drivers, and Abra captains, thereby ensuring that essential workers are taken care of during Ramadan. Collaborating with Beit Al Khair Society, RTA is also involved in the Ramadan Tent Project, which aims to serve 2,000 Iftar meals to fasting individuals, further exemplifying their dedication to supporting those in need.
Furthermore, RTA has introduced telephone booths at select Metro stations during Ramadan, allowing commuters to make free international calls to connect with their loved ones abroad. This thoughtful gesture, available at Al Ghubaiba, Union, and Jebel Ali Metro stations, helps bridge the distance between families and fosters a sense of closeness during the holy month.
RTA's multifaceted initiatives during Ramadan, including the distribution of nol cards, the provision of Iftar meals, and the facilitation of international calls, reflect its unwavering commitment to community welfare and solidarity. By catering to various needs and fostering connections, RTA strives to make Ramadan a time of compassion, support, and togetherness for all residents of Dubai.
