On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, made an announcement on the provision of a substantial monetary award to religious researchers, clerics, imams of mosques, preachers, muezzins, and muftis.
The Crown Prince of Dubai also announced the granting of golden residency to clerics who have served in Dubai for 20 years.
Through this decision, which comes as part of the annual tradition of clerics in the Emirates, the United Arab Emirates aims to commit to honoring those who tirelessly spread the message of tolerance and mercy rooted in Islam.
Increasing the salaries of imams and muezzins in Dubai
It should be noted that Sheikh Hamdan had ordered, earlier this year, an increase in the salaries of imams and muezzins in Dubai.
The increase applies to those serving in mosques operating under the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai.
The UAE government confirmed that increasing the salaries of imams and muezzins in Dubai is an acknowledgment of the dedication of preachers in supervising religious affairs and upholding constructive societal principles.
Offering a 50% monthly financial allowance of the base wage
It is also important to mention that the President of the United Arab Emirates has issued a directive that mandates the supply of a monthly financial allowance that is equivalent to fifty percent of the base pay for all workers in mosques. This includes imams and muezzins who are employed by the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
Golden residency for foreigners in the UAE
It should be noted that the UAE began granting golden residency to foreigners since 2019, and it extends for a period of 5 years or ten years, and this residency is automatically renewed if the same conditions are met.
The categories that are urged to apply for golden residency in the UAE include investors, entrepreneurs, people with specialized talents, outstanding people, and other categories determined by the state.
