According to the report by the Digital Government, a student can legally live in the UAE for educational purposes. This can be done either by having one of their parents, who is an official resident of the nation, act as their guarantor, or by obtaining a guarantee from one of the recognized universities or colleges where they are studying in the UAE. The country also offers exceptional pupils a golden residency visa that is valid for up to 10 years.
She clarified that the student visa is valid for a duration of one year and can be extended for an equivalent term upon submission of official documentation demonstrating the student's ongoing enrollment at a higher education institution in the UAE.
She stated that male children of foreign residents can be sponsored till they reach the age of 25 years. Male students who are 25 years or older can live with their families if they can present written evidence of their admittance into a higher education institution. This arrangement must last for at least one year. Female students can receive a "student visa" from their parents, regardless of their age.
The primary prerequisites for acquiring a student visa were examined, which include the submission of a document from the university or educational institution indicating the term of the study, along with any other requirements outlined in the general regulations for the resident visa.
She stated that international university students are allowed to bring their family to reside with them in the UAE, provided they meet the financial requirements for sponsorship and provide suitable accommodation. The objective of this step is to attain stability and provide moral encouragement to students.
The state provides golden residency to many categories, such as "exceptional students" and secondary school students. If a student is in the secondary stage and has achieved a high ranking at the state level (with a grade of at least 95% in a public or private secondary school), they can obtain a residence visa for a duration of five years without needing a guarantor. However, they must submit a letter of recommendation from the Ministry of Education (Emirates Education Foundation). The residence permit can be extended if the student is currently enrolled in an institution in the country and requires a study duration that exceeds five years.
Regarding UAE university students, exceptional UAE university students can acquire a 10-year residency visa without a guarantor, as long as they fulfill the following criteria: The university must be categorized as either (A) or (B) based on the classification endorsed by the Ministry of Education, along with a letter of endorsement from the university. A graduation certificate is required, indicating that the student has achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 in A-rated colleges or 3.8 in B-rated universities. Additionally, the graduation must have occurred no more than two years ago.
The Golden Visa offers extended residency to specific groups of foreigners who are currently living in or planning to move to the Emirates. It grants them the freedom to live, work, invest, and study without requiring a guarantor or host, while also providing particular advantages. The visa categories encompass those who fall under the following classifications: investors, entrepreneurs, exceptional talents, scholars and experts, outstanding students and graduates, pioneers in humanitarian activities, and the forefront of defense.
