The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department warned against ridicule and damage to the reputation of the state and its institutions, as the penalty is up to five years in prison and a fine of half a million dirhams, as part of the Your Freedom campaign, noting that anyone who publishes information, news, data, visual images, visual materials, or rumors on a website, or any information network or information technology means with the intent of ridiculing or damaging the reputation of the state or any of its institutions is subject.

The department also emphasized that "the fact that many parties condone offensive posts or comments against them does not necessarily mean that they cannot sue the owners of these posts, so everyone should be careful before discussing their experiences or posting photos touching certain places to avoid legal liability."

The department noted that the legislator has increased the punishment for insulting and slandering through the use of information technology due to its rapid spread and significant impact on the social environment and that the punishment is exacerbated if the abuser is a government entity or if the insulting and slandering was directed at a public employee or public servant.
