Companies in the UAE reduce the duration of the Eid holiday for employees and oblige them to work remotely

It is common practice for some businesses in the United Arab Emirates to shorten the length of the Eid holiday for their employees and require them to work from home.

Will all businesses in the United Arab Emirates go completely offline for the duration of the Eid holiday?

Companies in the Emirates suspend work for nine days on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

On account of the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, businesses in the Emirates take a nine-day break from their normal operations because of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The majority of businesses in the United Arab Emirates will continue to operate at some level throughout the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which will last for nine days. However, there are certain businesses that will completely cease all activities.

All public and private sector organizations will close from Monday, April 8, to Friday, April 12. Taking into account the four weekends, the employees will enjoy a nine-day break.

Professionals operating in fields such as chartered accountants, education professionals, legal professionals, bankers, and other comparable service sectors will take pleasure in the extended interval of freedom, according to the human resources business.

During the Eid al-Fitr holiday, there will be businesses that are not operating, according to Nicki Wilson, the founder and managing director of Genie, a human resources and recruitment consultancy.

These businesses include head offices in sectors such as agencies, schools, certain service providers, corporate offices, banks, non-essential services, and, of course, government entities.

There are some employees who will be working from home, while there are other companies that will allow their workforce to work from home throughout the holidays. In order to maintain a smooth workflow and avoid an excessive amount of work when work starts after the holidays, some companies request that their employees check their emails and answer them, even if they are technically off during the extended break.

Some private-sector institutions in the Emirates require employees to work remotely during the Eid holiday.

During the Eid vacation, employees might be required to work from home at certain private-sector institutions in the Emirates.

However, because of the nature of their industry, certain organizations will be working at a capacity that is far lower than their normal capability. Companies that are involved in retail, food and beverage, facilities management, hospitality, and other related fields will divide their workforce in order to let their employees have some time off, while others will be called in to continue running their businesses. Local labor rules often determine the compensation for individuals who are required to work.

Despite the fact that their head offices will have fewer employees on staff, Nicki Wilson stated that the hotel, tourism, and vital services industries will continue to do business.

According to Deepa Sud, the Chief Executive Officer of Plum Jobs, it is impossible for a company to completely close down during a period of extended hiatus.

Businesses will prioritize the protection of sales, revenue, and customer delivery, and they will do so by establishing measures to arrange working hours and allow employees to work remotely in order to provide support for their customers.
