Dubai Airport: Half a million children stamp passports, using "kiddie lane"

Since their inception during Eid last year, the specialized immigration counters designated for children at Dubai International Airport (DXB) have facilitated the smooth arrival process for over 550,000 young travelers.

These counters, located at Terminals 1, 2, and 3, were specifically tailored to cater to children aged 4 to 12, aiming to make their arrival experience more engaging and enjoyable.

Operated by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA), these dedicated lanes have allowed children to actively participate in the immigration process by stamping their own passports and engaging with immigration officers. Over the period from April 19 to the end of 2023, a substantial number of 434,889 arriving children utilized these specialized counters, with an additional 118,586 children availing themselves of the service in the initial three months of this year.

The implementation of these child-centric facilities reflects Dubai's commitment to enhancing its status as a world-class airport. The presence of dedicated immigration officers at these counters ensures that young travelers' queries and concerns are promptly addressed, further enriching their travel experience.

In a gesture of goodwill and hospitality, GDRFA officials, led by director-general Lt. Gen. Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, conducted routine checks on Eid Al Fitr to ensure seamless passenger flow. Accompanied by mascots Salem and Salama, adorned in GDRFA uniforms, officials distributed special gifts and mementos to young travelers, adding an element of delight to their journey.

Beyond mere convenience, these specialized immigration counters represent Dubai's proactive approach to prioritizing passenger satisfaction and facilitating family travel. By integrating interactive elements and personalized services, DXB continues to solidify its reputation as one of the leading airports globally, catering not only to the needs of adults but also ensuring a memorable and pleasant experience for its youngest visitors.
