Officials stressed the importance of drivers and operators following traffic laws.
Along with the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of Abu Dhabi has announced that buses are not allowed to operate on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street, which runs from Sheikh Zayed Bridge to Sheikh Zayed Tunnel (formerly called Al Qurm Street).
Effective Monday, April 15, this restriction will apply 24 hours a day, encompassing both directions of the road, including weekends and official holidays, this ban encompasses buses of all types and sizes, encompassing both light and heavy varieties.
However, certain exceptions have been outlined by the authority. Specifically, school buses, public transport buses, and buses facilitating access to work sites within the area will be exempt from this directive.
The decision to implement this restriction is motivated by a concerted effort to optimize traffic flow and mitigate the occurrence of accidents in the designated area. To ensure compliance with these regulations, the ITC emphasizes the importance of cooperation from operators and drivers.
Moreover, the authority underscores the significance of enhanced surveillance measures, which will involve monitoring buses for adherence to the directive. Collaborating closely with the Abu Dhabi Police, these efforts will be facilitated through the utilization of smart systems, enabling efficient enforcement of penalties for non-compliance.
This strategic move aligns with broader objectives aimed at fostering safer and more efficient transportation systems within Abu Dhabi. By streamlining traffic movements and prioritizing safety considerations, the ITC and the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ seek to create a more conducive environment for commuters and motorists alike. Through proactive measures and strategic partnerships, they aspire to uphold high standards of road safety and traffic management across the emirate.
