The Islamic celebration of Eid al-Fitr is eagerly anticipated across the UAE, promising moments of joy, camaraderie, and spiritual reflection following a month of fasting during Ramadan.

Scheduled for either April 9 or 10, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon, this festival heralds the end of Ramadan's fasting period.

The special Eid prayer, which takes place shortly after sunrise at mosques and designated open-air areas known as musallahs, is central to the festivities. Worshippers, adorned in their finest attire, gather for congregational prayers, marking the commencement of the day's festivities.

Across the Emirates, authorities have released the prayer times, ensuring worshippers can participate in this significant ritual. In Dubai, the prayer is slated for 6:18 a.m., while in Sharjah, it will commence at 6:17 a.m. Abu Dhabi, Ajman, and Umm Al Quwain follow suit, with prayer timings ranging from 6:15 am to 6:22 am. Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah residents can expect prayers to begin slightly later, at 6:15 am.

Following the Fajr prayer, worshippers make their way to the mosques, preparing for the Eid prayer. Led by an Imam, this congregational prayer comprises two units (raka'ah). The prayer involves multiple takbirs (recitations of "Allahu Akbar"), with the Imam reciting verses from the Quran in each unit. Subsequently, a sermon is delivered, guiding the congregation on matters of faith and community.

Upon the conclusion of the sermon, Muslims exchange heartfelt greetings, embracing one another and extending warm wishes of "Eid Mubarak." The day unfolds with festivities shared among family and friends, characterized by feasting, socializing, and acts of charity.

Eid al-Fitr serves as a time of spiritual renewal and unity, fostering a sense of belonging and gratitude within the Muslim community. As worshippers come together in prayer and celebration, they embody the essence of compassion, generosity, and devotion central to the Islamic faith.
