UAE: Sharjah building fire kills five people, including two Indians

The Indian Consulate General has been actively engaging with the families affected by the recent tragic fire in Sharjah's Al Nahda area, providing comprehensive assistance during this difficult time.

Among the victims were two individuals from India, including Michael Sathyadass, an employee at DXB Live, who tragically lost their lives in the incident. Michael, a talented sound engineer, had contributed significantly to various concerts featuring globally renowned artists like Bruno Mars and AR Rahman. His brother, Danny Sathyadass, shared heartfelt sentiments on social media, emphasizing Michael's selfless dedication to his craft and his role in uplifting others.

The second Indian victim, a 29-year-old woman from Mumbai, was part of a newlywed couple whose dreams were shattered by the fire. While her identity is being withheld until formal confirmation, her husband remains in critical condition, with friends and family anxiously awaiting updates on his health. The Consulate General has been actively liaising with affected families, offering necessary support, and visiting hospitals to ensure the well-being of those injured.

The tragedy claimed a total of five lives and left 44 others injured, with significant numbers displaced as a result of the blaze. Among the casualties was a Filipina expatriate, highlighting the diverse backgrounds of those affected by the incident. The profound impact of the fire has reverberated within the community, prompting an outpouring of support and prayers for the victims and their families.

In a poignant tribute, colleagues remembered Michael as a dedicated and loyal member of the DXB Live team, whose contributions were instrumental in the organization's success. His sudden demise has left a void within the company, underscoring the profound loss experienced by his colleagues and loved ones.

For the newlywed couple, whose journey together was tragically cut short, family members have traveled to the UAE to navigate the formalities and arrangements following the loss. Despite the overwhelming grief, there is solace in the solidarity shown by the community, as efforts are made to honor and commemorate the lives lost in the tragic incident. As preparations are made for the funeral arrangements, the memory of those who perished will endure, a testament to their impact and the bonds shared within the community.
