The Abu Dhabi Police recently shared a social media video depicting hazardous driving behaviors at intersection triangles within the UAE capital.
This visual material underscores the perilous consequences of drivers engaging in sudden deviations and unlawfully bypassing restricted lines.
The footage showcases various incidents, including an SUV recklessly maneuvering across two lanes on the highway, dangerously close to other vehicles, before crossing the intersection to take an exit. Additionally, a sedan is observed exiting a hard shoulder and attempting a hazardous intersection crossing from the left, resulting in a collision with another car. A heavy truck is also captured exiting a hard shoulder in a perilous manner, crossing the intersection from the left. Fortunately, oncoming traffic manages to evade the situation, averting a potential multi-vehicle collision.
Furthermore, the video captures an SUV exiting the highway and dangerously crossing the intersection from the right, endangering both the driver's life and that of other motorists. These instances of sudden deviation represent severe traffic violations punishable by fines of up to Dh1,000 under federal traffic laws. Additionally, offenders may incur four black points on their driving record.
Moreover, wrong overtaking, another dangerous driving behavior depicted in the video, carries penalties starting at Dh600, with fines potentially escalating to Dh1,000, depending on the severity of the offense. These penalties are implemented to deter drivers from engaging in reckless behaviors that jeopardize road safety.
The Abu Dhabi Police's dissemination of this video serves as a stark reminder of the grave consequences associated with irresponsible driving practices. Through highlighting these incidents, authorities aim to raise awareness and encourage adherence to traffic regulations, ultimately promoting safer road environments for all motorists.
