Flydubai has issued a cautionary statement regarding potential disruptions to flight schedules originating from Dubai International (DXB) airport due to volatile weather conditions.
In light of this, the airline has advised passengers to prepare for their travels by arriving at the airport at least four hours before their scheduled departure time.
The inclement weather, characterized by heavy rains and thunderstorms, has been impacting various regions including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah since late Monday afternoon. Forecasts suggest that these adverse weather conditions will escalate throughout the night. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a warning highlighting the risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall, along with reduced visibility caused by strong winds. These conditions are anticipated to persist until the early hours of Wednesday.
Flydubai reassured passengers that they are actively monitoring the situation and implementing measures to minimize any disruptions to travel plans. Passengers were advised to factor in extra time for their journey to the airport and to stay updated on their flight status via the airline's official website.
Meanwhile, Emirates Airline confirmed that all their flights were operating as scheduled as of Monday evening. However, this statement comes in the wake of previous instances where heavy rainfall led to flight cancellations and delays in Dubai. For instance, on March 9, adverse weather conditions necessitated the rerouting of approximately 13 inbound flights to nearby airports.
In response to the ongoing unstable weather conditions, all public schools across the Emirates will transition to remote learning on Tuesday and Wednesday. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff during this period of inclement weather.
